Guidelines for Covered Dish Items
Brought to the Wellness Supper Club
- Please make every effort to prepare your dish with care and the utmost degree of cleanliness, so that we have no food born illness. Cover your hair while cooking and keep pets out of the kitchen!
- Prepare a VEGAN dish. This means no animal products, including eggs, dairy (cheese, butter, milk, whey or casein, which is milk protein).
- Prepare a dish that will serve at least 10 people. We recommend at least an 8 x 10 inch baking pan and preferably a 10 x 15 baking dish if you, have one.
- If you're making a side dish of vegetables, " crisp tender" is always better than over cooked or mushy!
- Bring your casserole to the church on the evening of the supper no later than 5:45 p.m. It should arrive hot and ready to eat. If you are dropping it off earlier than 5:15 p.m. we can heat it for you. Anything that is brought ice cold that needs to be warmed should be dropped off in plenty of time to be warmed in the oven.
- Please bring a small note card with the ingredients of your dish listed and put it on top of your casserole. This will insure that those with allergies will not become ill. This is required by the Federal Food Code.
- Try to avoid excessive sugar in your cooking. Natural sweeteners such as maple syrup, sucanat (evaporated sugar cane), and raw sugar are preferable to refined sugar. Honey is technically not a vegan product, but may be used Please specify that it is an ingredient out of consideration for those who attend our event who do not consume honey.
