Dear Members and Friends of the Harrisburg First Seventh-day Adventist Church,
This week the pandemic has brought about more changes and challenges to our lives with the drawn-out stay-at-home orders, the wearing of masks, the loss of jobs and lives, and our concern for loved ones. We may find ourselves unsettled with the uncertainty, fearful of the unknown, and grieving the losses.
The Bible has hundreds of verses that speak of trials, uncertainty, fear, and sorrow, but God is bigger! In Psalm 23, David pictures God with him and comforting him even in the valley of the shadow of death.
Jesus saw great suffering, torture, and death. In the garden of Gethsemane when His soul was overwhelmed with sorrow, he pleaded for the suffering to be taken away. He cried out to our Heavenly Father “…Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Remember that through his trials, He turned to faith. He died, but He rose again! God wins!
“…let us hold on to the faith we have… (Jesus) is able to understand our weaknesses… we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it.”
“Let’s encourage one another and all the more as we see the day approaching.”
If I or our church family can be of assistance to you during this time,
please do not hesitate to call: 717-652-6000.
