Dear Members and Friends of the Harrisburg First Seventh-day Adventist Church,
We spoke with our kids recently, and they shared a video clip of a friend and her toddler who had been weeks under Michigan’s stay-at-home mandate. In the clip, the toddler was in conversation with her mom. It went something like this:
“Can I go to church please?”
“What are you going to do at church?”
“…see if there’s any people out there…”
Aren’t we all longing to see people at church? I’ve got good news - - our members are out there at (the business of) church! The elders and members are intentionally reaching out to each other through phone calls. Through conference audio/video calls, we’re daily encouraging each other with biblical promises, study, and prayer time. Teacher Appreciation baskets were prepared for our school’s teachers. Food has been distributed. Funds are being contributed. Cards are being sent. Masks are being made. Neighbors are helping neighbors. Our virtual Bible workers are following up on fifty local attendees of the Hope Awakens meetings.
Are you out there? Perhaps we can’t physically be together at church, but we can be at church by being about our Father’s business. How does He want you to share the love of Christ, the fullness of God?

Important information for Sabbath, May 16, 2020 - - In order to continue to assist the efforts in curbing the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), our church will continue to be closed.
Our Church Board will meet this Monday, May 18, to discuss the recommendations from our task force committee for when and how we will safely open for services and activities.
The Pennsylvania Conference update on May 15 shares that “As counties are moved to yellow, many of our churches are able to reopen for worship services. They are following CDC guidelines: limiting 25 people in the service at a time, wearing masks, cleaning/sanitizing, no socials/communions, and not yet starting children's Sabbath School classes. But it's good to be back in person with church families. Others continue to meet via Zoom, conference calls or live on Facebook and/or YouTube.”
All on-site church gatherings are cancelled.

You can help our Harrisburg Adventist Schoo
The coronavirus has placed our school, our churches, and ourselves into unknown territory. During this time, some of us are finding that we are doing more online shopping and grocery store deliveries or pickups. This is a friendly reminder that during these uncertain times, one way to help is by supporting the Harrisburg Adventist School while doing your shopping. By shopping through AmazonSmile, it helps our school collect money at no extra cost to you.
FAQ’S for AmazonSmile:
How do I shop at AmazonSmile? Go to smile.amazon.com to make purchases. Purchasing through amazon.com does NOT give donations to our school.
Which products are eligible for donation? Products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product details page are participating products.
Can I use my existing amazon.com account information on AmazonSmile? Yes. You can sign into AmazonSmile the same way you would sign into amazon.com.
How do I select Harrisburg Adventist School as my organization? On your first visit to smile.amazon.com, you will need to go under charitable organization and choose Harrisburg Adventist School.
Also, please encourage your family and friends to support our school. It is our hope that you all stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing each one of you again soon.
Again, thank you for your support,
Heidi Umbrell, Home and School Leader
