Dear Members and Friends of the Harrisburg First Seventh-day Adventist Church,
I still remember this scripture and the message delivered at my high school graduation from Blue Mountain Academy. The speaker told an old story of a chicken farmer who found an eagle’s egg and put it with his chickens. The original story tells of the young eagle living and dying as a chicken because that is what he thought he was. But this preacher gave it a new twist, an
Isaiah 40 perspective. He described the earthbound, dirt-scratching chicken looking up one day and seeing an eagle soaring majestically. Something stirred within the eagle, and he recognized what God designed him to be. He flapped and stretched out his wings until a stiff breeze lifted him from the dirt. Soon he joined the other eagle, conquering the sky and soaring like the eagle he was meant to be. The preacher asked us to consider what God was calling us to be and urged us to wait on the Lord and soar with wings like eagles. Are you a chicken or an eagle?
This past Thursday, I joined the virtual Harrisburg Adventist School’s Kindergarten graduation. Principal Nita Connell asked the children, dressed up in their caps and gowns, to remember to keep Jesus number one in their lives. How important it is to realize the eternal significance of our investment in our children!

Important information for Sabbath, May 23, 2020 - - In order to continue to assist the efforts in curbing the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), our church will continue to be closed. Our Church Board met on Monday, May 18, and voted to begin reopening our church for worship when the Dauphin County status moves to the “Yellow Phase”. We will communicate our plans to safely reopen with modifications based on the State of Pennsylvania guidelines as reflected in the Pennsylvania Conference update on May 15 - “As counties are moved to yellow, many of our churches are able to reopen for worship services. They are following CDC guidelines: limiting 25 people in the service at a time, wearing masks, cleaning/sanitizing, no socials/communions, and not yet starting children's Sabbath School classes. But it's good to be back in person with church families. Others continue to meet via Zoom, conference calls or live on Facebook and/or YouTube.”
All on-site church gatherings are cancelled.
However, the following will be provided by phone

You can help our Harrisburg Adventist School
The coronavirus has placed our school, our churches, and ourselves into unknown territory. During this time, some of us are finding that we are doing more online shopping and grocery store deliveries or pickups. This is a friendly reminder that during these uncertain times, one way to help is by supporting the Harrisburg Adventist School while doing your shopping. By shopping through AmazonSmile, it helps our school collect money at no extra cost to you.
FAQ’S for AmazonSmile:
How do I shop at AmazonSmile? Go to smile.amazon.com to make purchases. Purchasing through amazon.com does NOT give donations to our school.
Which products are eligible for donation? Products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product details page are participating products.
Can I use my existing amazon.com account information on AmazonSmile? Yes. You can sign into AmazonSmile the same way you would sign into amazon.com.
How do I select Harrisburg Adventist School as my organization? On your first visit to smile.amazon.com, you will need to go under charitable organization and choose Harrisburg Adventist School.
Also, please encourage your family and friends to support our school. It is our hope that you all stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing each one of you again soon.
Again, thank you for your support,
Heidi Umbrell, Home and School Leader
