Dear Members and Friends of the Harrisburg First Seventh-day Adventist Church,
A few miles from our home is a farm with a green pasture surrounded by a strong fence that protects a small herd of sheep from the busy road. One day as I drove by, I spotted a small black lamb that had escaped through the fence. I stopped, and with good intentions and calmness, I quietly approached the lamb to carefully lift it back into the safety of the sheepfold. But the lamb went crazy, screaming and running and struggling to avoid me. It finally squeezed through a small hole in the fence back to its mother. Obviously, the lamb did not trust me, a stranger.
The Lord was no stranger to David, who portrays the Lord as “my shepherd” and expresses total trust in Him to provide, guide, protect, and prepare him to “dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” David shares that “He restores my soul,” and I just wonder if this is what we have a special need for during this pandemic lockdown. I want to encourage you to invest in a renewed focus in your walk with God during these long days and nights at home.
“Let’s encourage one another and all the more as we see the day approaching.” If I or our church family can be of assistance to you during this time, please do not hesitate to call: 717-652-6000.
Pastor Dave Sanner
