Music Committee Responsibilities

Thanks so much for your willingness to help! I’ve highlighted your particular area of responsibility. Hopefully this will help you as you plan.
On the back side of this sheet are our music committee guidelines. As you prepare, please take some time to read them through.

10:45 AM Praise Time:

Song leaders should send their song selections (the hymn numbers and titles) to the pianists at hfsda.music@gmail.com no later than Wednesday.

The words to the songs (the hymn numbers and titles only if the songs are in the hymnal) should be given to the audio-visual (A-V) person in charge for that Sabbath or sent to hfsda.tech@gmail.com no later than Thursday evening.

If you choose songs that are not in the hymnal:

You must provide them to the music committee monthly coordinator no later than 1 week in advance to ensure they are appropriate and to give our volunteers time to prepare the lyric slides.

Provide the lyrics EXACTLY AS THEY WILL BE SUNG in text form that can be copied in to our PowerPoint slides.  Scanned images alone are not acceptable although they are welcomed as a supporting document.

If you are unfamiliar with the hymn of praise/closing hymns, use Google Search or YouTube to make sure that you know the song in order to lead the congregation.

Please sit at the front of the church for quick and easy access to the platform.

Begin the song service promptly at 10:45 A.M.  The song service duration is 10 minutes.

Hymn Leader:

The hymn of praise (opening hymn) for each week can be found on the church website:
http://www.harrisburgadventist.org/opening-hymns.html

If you are unfamiliar with the hymn of praise/closing hymns, use Google Search or YouTube to make sure that you know the song in order to lead the congregation.

You will also be leading the congregation in singing “We Have This Hope” at the close of the service.

Please sit at the front of the church for quick and easy access to the platform.

Special Music:

If possible, obtain the sermon title/theme and coordinate your song with the subject of the sermon.

If your music involves anything more than a single vocalist with piano, please be in the Sanctuary at 10:15 to perform a sound check immediately when Sabbath School is over.

For those using any technology (e.g. soundtrack, PowerPoint, video), submit it to the church audio-visual personnel no later than 9:30 A.M. on the day of the worship service.  If possible, submit it earlier in the week.

Submissions can either:

  • Be sent by email to hfsda.tech@gmail.com
  • Use our file upload form (see the church web site)

If you have questions about our A/V capabilities, refer to our AV Capabilities list on the web site.

Please sit at the front of the church for quick and easy access to the platform.
